There are several statuses that the Assemblies of God World Missions has available for individuals.

Appointed General

An Appointed General missionary has a proven stateside ministry and believes God has called him or her to a lifetime of overseas missionary service. The AG missionary is involved in general missionary work — evangelism, mentoring, church planting, construction, Bible school ministry and assisting the national church in developing pastors and leaders.

Although each missionary has unique gifts, abilities and training, specific qualifications for AG appointment are:

• Completed at least two years of ministry in a pastoral position
• A college degree is preferred (Applicant may be required to complete specific courses in biblical studies.)
• Personal debt may not exceed $200 per month

Appointed Special

The Appointed Special missionary believes God has called him or her to use specialized vocational skills for a lifetime of meeting needs and enhancing ministries overseas. Teachers – for Bible schools and elementary and high schools — computer specialists, media technicians, medical personnel, builders and accountants are fulfilling the call of God through their distinct giftings.

Qualifications for an Appointed Special missionary are:

• Must have two years of experience in area of specialization
• A college degree is preferred (Applicant may be required to complete specific courses in biblical studies.)
• Personal debt may not exceed $200 per month

Special Assignment

At times Assemblies of God World Missions may need a specialist to fulfill a ministry for a specific length of time. The SA missionary may be asked to assume the responsibilities of a career missionary who is coming back to the United States for itineration or to serve in an assignment on a contract basis.

Qualifications for Special Assignment missionary are:

• May be ordained or licensed as an Assemblies of God minister (Learn more)
• Must have at least two years in area of specialization
• A college degree is not required
• Personal debt may not exceed $200 per month

Specialized Service

People with skills in practical or pastoral ministry may seek an overseas assignment on a contract basis for one to four years when professional expertise is needed to complement the work of a career missionary.

Qualifications are:

• Must meet the doctrinal requirements to pursue credentials, but credentials are not required
• Must have two years of experience in area of specialization
• A college degree is preferred
• Personal debt may not exceed $200 per month
