Teams On Assignment

Pastor Lee Ponder
Delta First Assembly of God
Delta, Colorado

A team of eight adults from Delta, Colorado spent February 4-11, 2010, building a church building in La Laguna, Panama. Delta First Assembly of God provided the funds for the building materials and each team member paid their own travel expenses.

Missionaries Larryon and Aida Truman met our team at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama. Larryon did a great job of taking care of our team; every detail had been provided for prior to our arrival.

After traveling four hours to La Laguna, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the home of Pastors Moses and Gloria Paz. We began work that afternoon raising the columns and trusses.

Our team worked hard, and in spite of the intense heat, we were able to install the metal purlins, roof, and most of the electrical wiring and walls. The people of this small congregation were excited and very appreciative for their new building.
The people of Panama will always have a place in our hearts.

Chalk Hill Assembly of God

On July 18, 2009 - 14 adults and five students flew from Shreveport to Managua, Nicaragua. Missionaries Bonnie and Levys Hernandez picked us up at the airport and drove us 1 1/2 hours to the city of Leon. Leon has a population of 150,000. We worked refurbishing a Latin America Child Care School, and ministered in the local church, New Jerusalem Assembly of God.

The team repaired plumbing, rewired and added electrical facilities, laid masonry blocks, cleaned and painted classrooms and buildings. Chalk Hill Assembly of God supplied the money for workers from the local church to build and install a water tower and tank. Doors and windows were being added to the school after our team left.

Some of the team ministered to the children during their school chapel service. They also ministered in the Sunday service at New Jerusalem Assembly of God through music and preaching.

On the last Saturday of the trip, the team worked with Convoy of Hope and distributed food and clothing to 435 families.

Our team worked very hard to accomplish everything that we had planned to do. It was very rewarding to see the appreciation that was shown and expressed to us. On the last Sunday that we were there, we participated in the re-dedication of the refurbished school. At the dedication service, the Nicaraguan, American, and the Christian flags were exhibited. The national anthems of Nicaragua and America were played. There was an archway of balloons and ribbons, and Pastor Ramon and Gary Brown, team leader, cut the ribbon. Everyone praised the Lord for what had been accomplished.

It was a very rewarding trip for each of us and God miraculously provided the funds for the projects and for the our expenses. To read more about this trip, please click here.

Summer Missions 2009

During the summer of 2009, we took a group of 12 teens and three adults on a missions trip to Belize. The trip was wonderful! We worked hard, had great experiences, and so much fun! The two cities we ministered in were Belize City, the capital of the country, and Red Bank Village, a small Mayan village in the southern portion of Belize. Our missionary contacts were Tom and Kathi Moore who live in Belize as full time missionaries helping existing churches and their pastors as well as helping an Assemblies of God Elementary School. The first two days were spent organizing and inventorying two 40' containers of elementary text books that will be distributed to the Christian and public elementary schools in Belize. It was great to be able to help so many schools, teachers, and children!
On the third day of the trip we drove to Red Bank Village where we stayed for four days. In the mornings we played volleyball and soccer with the kids and teens. After that we had a Bible lesson for each age group. We ate lunches made by the Mayans that were delicious! Every night we held a service with worship, skits, testimonies, and a message.
Our focus in the village was addressing drugs with the teens. The teens would not come into the church but they would watch the services from outside. By the end of our four days, many of the teens had given their hearts to Christ! The whole team enjoyed ministering in the village.
This trip was so rewarding. The team worked hard, connected with the people, and had grown personally by the end of the trip.
